The PM893 keeps enterprise SATA current: a 2.5-inch drive to 7.68 TB with full power-loss protection, consistent latency, and 1 DWPD endurance. It serves the very large installed base of SATA-bay servers plus boot, logging, and metadata roles in newer chassis.
SATA's 550 MB/s ceiling is offset by predictable behavior and low cost per bay, which is what read-intensive content serving and archival tiers actually require. V-NAND TLC and Samsung's enterprise firmware provide the reliability profile expected in 24/7 duty.
